Catherine Szpulak is a Senior Associate at Schofield Macchia and Associates. Her practice extends to all areas of criminal law, with a particular focus on drug related offences, including drug possession and drug trafficking, firearm and other weapons offences. She also has experience with large project cases with numerous co-accused.

Ms. Szpulak graduated from Carleton University with an Honours degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a concentration in law in 2012. She completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Windsor in 2016, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2017.

While at the University of Windsor, Catherine gained valuable experience in criminal law and client advocacy through working for Community Legal Aid as a caseworker. Catherine also held the position of teaching assistant for the first-year criminal law class where she taught and explored numerous issues in criminal law and procedure.

After graduating, Catherine articled with senior counsel in Brampton where she gained valuable hands-on experience in defending criminal charges.

Since then, Catherine has successfully represented her clients at various stages of the criminal process including judicial interim release (bail), bail reviews, preliminary hearings, pre-trial motions and trials where she regularly argues for clients' rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice. She fights vigorously for her clients and will work tirelessly to ensure the best possible outcome for her clients.
